How Much Does Switchy Cost? Pricing Explained
Switchy is a retargeting-pixel specialist starting at $47/month. Flyn is a full link management platform at $9/month annual. Here is when each one is the right pick.

What each Switchy plan costs, and what you get
Switchy and Flyn are both branded link platforms, but they were built for different jobs. Switchy carved out a niche as the retargeting pixel specialist, the platform that lets you embed Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, and TikTok pixels directly into short links so anyone who clicks gets added to your ad audiences. That is still its identity, though it no longer owns the category by itself.
Flyn is a full link management platform. Analytics, A/B testing, dynamic QR codes, deep links, webhooks, geo-routing, password protection, team collaboration, the broad toolkit modern marketers expect. Retargeting pixels are part of that toolkit now too, on Pro and Lifetime, so the old split between the two products has narrowed to a few specific things.
This is one of the rare comparisons where the right answer genuinely depends on which job you're hiring the tool to do.
Switchy's genuine strength
You paste a short link into a tweet, an email, or an ad. Anyone who clicks gets added to your Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, or TikTok retargeting audience automatically. No JavaScript on your destination page required. For agencies running paid media or any team doing aggressive ad retargeting, this is a real workflow win.
Flyn's genuine strength
Every feature a modern marketing team needs, shipped on a Pro plan that costs less than a single lunch per month. Deep analytics, A/B testing, dynamic QR codes, native app deep links, webhooks, custom domains, password protection, and aggressive pricing that doesn't scale with click volume.
Who this comparison is for
- Marketers running paid retargeting who are weighing Switchy
- Switchy customers on the $47/month or $99/month tier wondering if there's a cheaper option
- Teams considering both tools side-by-side for a new project
- Anyone using our UTM Builder and wondering whether Flyn replaces Switchy entirely
Pricing: the largest single delta in this comparison
Switchy is one of the more expensive entries in the link management category, because retargeting pixels are a premium feature and Switchy targets agencies and ad-heavy marketing teams.
| Tier | Switchy | Flyn | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Limited (trial-like) | 25 links/mo, basic analytics, QR codes | Flyn |
| Entry paid | $47/mo (unlimited links, 10K tracked clicks, retargeting) | $9/mo annual (unlimited links, unlimited clicks) | Flyn, 81% cheaper |
| Mid paid | $99/mo (100K tracked clicks) | $9/mo annual | Flyn, 91% cheaper |
| Lifetime option | Not offered | $249 one-time | Flyn |
| Retargeting pixels | Yes, 13 providers | Yes, 13 providers, on Pro and Lifetime | Tie on coverage |
| A/B testing | Higher tiers | Pro | Flyn |
| Custom domains | 1 on entry, more on higher | 3 on Pro | Flyn |
| Tracked click ceilings | Yes | None on Pro | Flyn |
The tracked click ceiling problem
Switchy's entry plan is $47/month with a 10K tracked click ceiling. Hit 10,001 clicks on a viral campaign and your data goes dark or you're upgraded mid-month. For viral or paid campaigns, this is a real risk, and exactly the moment you most want detailed analytics. Flyn doesn't meter clicks on Pro.
The lifetime plan
Flyn's one-time $249 lifetime Pro license compares against Switchy's minimum $564/year (entry tier). For long-running projects, the math is hard to argue with.
If you are paying for Switchy purely for pixel injection, that reason no longer holds on its own, because Flyn does the same thing on a $9/month Pro plan. Audit what you are actually buying instead. If the answer is the consent popup, the Smartpage bio builder, or a seat and click ceiling Flyn does not sell, those are real reasons to stay. If the answer is just pixels, it is worth re-running the numbers.
Retargeting pixels: Switchy's flagship feature
If you've never used pixel-injected short links, here's the mental model: any browser that clicks a Switchy link gets the chosen ad pixel fired into it. The visitor then becomes part of your ad-platform audience, and you can retarget them with Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, or TikTok ads without ever needing them to visit your owned property.
Switchy's pixel support
- 13 ad platforms documented in their help centre, including Meta, Google, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, Quora, Bing, AdRoll and VK
- Multi-pixel per link, so one click can feed several audiences
- A GDPR and CCPA privacy popup, account-level, letting the visitor accept or decline before the redirect
- Save a pixel once in settings, then attach it per link
Flyn ships the same thing
Flyn attaches retargeting pixels to individual short links on Pro and Lifetime. You save a pixel once under Settings, then tick it on any link. The catalogue is also 13 providers: Meta, Google Ads, Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, LinkedIn Insight Tag, X, TikTok, Pinterest, Quora, Reddit, Snapchat, Microsoft Advertising (Bing UET) and AdRoll. Twelve of the two lists overlap exactly. Flyn carries Reddit, which Switchy's list does not; Switchy carries VK, which Flyn's does not.
You can attach several pixels to one link with no per-link cap, so a single stream of clicks can feed audiences on several platforms at once. Saved pixels are shared across a team: any teammate can attach the team's pixels to their own links, while only the person who created a pixel can delete it. It works over the documented REST API as well as the dashboard.
How the pixel actually fires
Worth understanding, because it is the same constraint for every tool in this category. A 301 or 302 redirect cannot run JavaScript, and an ad pixel is JavaScript. So a link with pixels attached does not serve a bare redirect: it serves a brief branded interstitial that runs the pixel scripts in the visitor's browser and then forwards, on a fixed 800 millisecond beat with a 3 second meta-refresh behind it as a backstop. Links with no pixels attached keep the plain instant redirect. On cloaked links and mobile deep-link pages the pixel markup is injected into the page that was already being served, so there is no extra hop at all. Known crawlers are excluded by user agent, so ordinary bot traffic and link previews do not pollute your audiences.
Where Switchy still genuinely differs
- Consent. Switchy has an account-level GDPR and CCPA privacy popup that asks the visitor to accept or decline before the redirect, and declining means the pixels get no data. Flyn has no consent gate: pixels fire for every non-crawler visitor, and having permission to retarget that traffic is your responsibility. If you need a decline path built into the redirect itself, this is the one thing on this page Flyn cannot match.
- Smartpages. Switchy ships a link-in-bio and landing-page builder with form capture and lead export. Flyn has no bio-page builder at all.
- Scale rungs. Switchy sells plans self-serve up to millions of tracked clicks a month with dozens of seats and custom domains. Flyn Pro is a single tier.
- Domain-level defaults. Flyn attaches pixels one link at a time. There is no way to say "every link on this domain fires this pixel".
Where Flyn differs
- No click ceiling. Every Switchy plan caps tracked clicks, and their own documentation says that once you pass the cap your links keep redirecting but stop tracking and stop firing retargeting pixels until you upgrade or the month resets. That is the pixel switching itself off at exactly the moment a campaign is working. Flyn does not cap clicks.
- Price and a free tier. Switchy's cheapest plan is $39 per month billed yearly, or $47 billed monthly, and their pricing page lists no free tier. Flyn Pro is $9 per month billed annually, and there is a free plan.
- Conversions. Switchy's own homepage describes its conversion product as a private beta for large companies, behind a contact form. Flyn's per-link conversion tracking is generally available to every Pro account.
What Flyn's pixels do not do
Two honest limits. They fire a page-view event only: no custom conversion events, no value or currency, no advanced matching. And they are client-side browser scripts with no server-side Conversions API fallback, so an ad blocker or a strict privacy mode drops them silently, exactly as it would on any site. Password-protected links do not fire pixels either, because the unlock step sends the visitor straight on to the destination.
Analytics: surface metrics vs deep insights
Switchy invested in pixels first and analytics second. Flyn was analytics-first.
What Switchy ships
- Click counts per link
- Top countries
- Top referrers
- Top devices
- Date-range filtering on higher tiers
- Tracked click ceilings per plan
What Flyn ships on Pro
Free counts every click live; the depth below comes with Pro.
- Real-time click streams, events appear within seconds
- Period-over-period comparisons, "this week vs last week" rendered automatically
- Auto-granularity, hourly, daily, or weekly buckets based on date range
- City-level geo, included with Pro
- Per-link analytics pages, full dashboard scoped to one link
- UTM-aware segmentation, pair with our UTM Parser
- Sharable filtered views, every filter combination is a URL
- No tracked click ceilings on Pro
- Click-fraud signals to identify bot traffic
The freshness gap
Switchy's dashboard updates on a delay (typically 5-15 minutes depending on plan). Flyn's click stream is real-time, useful when you launch a campaign and want to see the first clicks land, or when you need to debug whether a link is working on a specific platform. For paid media teams monitoring live spend, real-time matters.
A/B testing: both platforms ship it, but very differently
Switchy and Flyn both offer A/B split testing, but the feature is positioned differently on each platform.
Switchy's A/B
- Available on higher-tier plans (typically $99/month and above)
- Two-URL split with configurable ratios
- Performance tracked per variant
- Limited statistical guidance
Flyn's A/B
- Included on every Pro plan ($9/month annual)
- Visual ratio slider, any split from 1/99 to 99/1
- Hashed-cookie consistency (same visitor sees same variant)
- Variant performance in analytics dashboard with significance hints
- Test routing between any two URLs, landing pages, app stores, affiliates, anything
What you can actually test
- Two landing page variants in a paid ad campaign
- App store vs landing page from a QR code on print collateral
- Different sign-up flows from a podcast episode
- Affiliate A vs Affiliate B from the same review post
- Email link routing, V1 of the CTA destination vs V2
For full methodology, see our A/B testing short links guide.
Link-level A/B testing is a fast directional test, not a full conversion experiment. Use it to confirm a winner in the first few hundred clicks. Validate with end-to-end conversion data on your full analytics stack before making material business decisions. Both Switchy and Flyn have this same limitation, A/B at the redirect is a starting point, not a complete experimentation system.
Developer API and integrations
Switchy ships an API; Flyn ships an API and webhooks. The difference matters for real-time integrations.
Switchy's API
- Available on premium tiers
- REST endpoints for link creation and updates
- Basic documentation
- No webhook support
- Rate limits not publicly documented in detail
Flyn's API
- Full REST coverage on Pro, create, read, update, delete links
- Analytics queries with date-range and dimension filters
- Domain management endpoints
- Webhooks for real-time event streaming
- First-party TypeScript SDK with full type coverage
- Code samples in JS, TS, Python, and curl for every endpoint
- Generous rate limits: 60 req/min reads, 10 req/min mutations
- Chrome extension for one-click shortening
- Developer-focused docs
The webhooks edge
Webhooks let you fire a Slack alert when a tier-one link spikes, sync click events to your data warehouse, or trigger marketing automations based on link activity. Switchy doesn't ship webhooks; Flyn does. If you're building any real-time integration, this is a significant gap.
Building automations
For most "create a link when X happens" use cases, both platforms work. For "react in real-time when a link gets clicked," Flyn is the better fit. Common patterns:
- Auto-generate short links when a CMS publishes a new post (CMS webhook → Flyn API)
- Slack alert on click spike to a high-value campaign (Flyn webhook → Slack)
- Update a customer dashboard with their tracked clicks (Flyn API)
- Sync click events to BigQuery or Snowflake (Flyn webhook → warehouse)
QR codes and dynamic content
Both platforms ship QR codes. Flyn integrates them more tightly with analytics.
Switchy's QR
- QR generation on paid plans
- Basic customization
- Static or limited dynamic update
- Scan analytics on higher tiers
Flyn's QR
- Dynamic QR codes on every plan including free
- Update destination without reprinting
- Logo embedding on every plan, brand colors on Pro
- PNG export on every plan, SVG export on Pro
- Scan analytics integrated into the main analytics dashboard, same view as click data
- Per-QR geo, device, and time-of-day breakdowns
Print-to-digital campaigns
If you ship physical materials (packaging, posters, restaurant menus, real estate signs, conference badges), the difference between "QR exists" and "QR is fully integrated with analytics" matters. Flyn's unified dashboard means you can compare physical vs digital performance side by side without exporting CSVs. See our dynamic QR codes guide for full campaign patterns.
Custom domains and link features
Both platforms support custom branded domains. Flyn gives you more on Pro.
| Feature | Switchy | Flyn |
|---|---|---|
| Custom domains | 1 on entry, more on higher tiers | 3 on Pro, more via team |
| SSL provisioning | Auto | Auto via Let's Encrypt |
| DNS verification | Standard polling | Real-time |
| Password protection | Limited | Yes (Pro) |
| Auto-expiry (TTL/clicks) | No native | Yes (Pro) |
| Geo-routing | No native | Yes (Pro) |
| Device targeting | No native | Yes (Pro) |
| Deep links (native apps) | Limited | 16+ platforms |
| Link cloaking | Yes | Yes |
| Custom OG metadata | Limited | Yes |
| Bulk operations | Limited | Full |
Deep links specifically
Flyn ships deep links for 16+ specific platforms, Instagram profiles, TikTok videos, Spotify tracks, YouTube channels, Shopify products, Calendly bookings, and more. The UI doesn't require reading iOS or Android docs. Switchy handles basic mobile deep linking on higher tiers but with narrower platform coverage. For campaigns that need to open content in native apps, this is a meaningful capability gap. See our deep links guide.
Geo-routing and device targeting
Flyn lets you send US visitors to one URL and EU visitors to another, or different destinations per device class (iOS, Android, desktop). Useful for region-specific landing pages, app store routing, or country-restricted offers. Switchy doesn't natively support this on its standard plans.
Migration: 30 minutes, custom-domain links keep working
Migration from Switchy to Flyn follows the same pattern as any custom-domain migration.
The three steps
- Export from Switchy. Dashboard → Export → CSV. You get slug, destination, tags, and creation date.
- Bulk import to Flyn. Use the dashboard's bulk import or our guided migration page. Slugs and destinations preserved exactly. For 1,000 links, ~30 seconds.
- Repoint the CNAME. Update your custom domain's CNAME to
cname.flyn.to. DNS propagates in 5-30 minutes. Branded short URLs keep resolving throughout.
What carries over
| Asset | Survives? |
|---|---|
Custom-domain links (go.brand.com/abc) | Yes, completely |
| Switchy-domain links | No, stay with Switchy |
| UTM tags on destinations | Yes, preserved exactly |
| QR codes printed on materials | Yes (if pointed at custom domain) |
| Historical clicks | Exported as CSV; new clicks track in Flyn |
| Pixel-injection setup | Re-create each pixel once in Flyn Settings, then attach it per link |
| API integrations | Swap auth + base URL; typically <1 hour |
What to do about the pixel use case
This used to be the reason to keep a Switchy subscription alongside Flyn. It mostly is not any more. Re-create each pixel once under Settings in Flyn, tick it on the links that need it, and the affiliate links, partner promotions and third-party redirects that drove the old hybrid setup work on one account. Budget one careful pass at the end: pixel IDs cannot be edited in place on Flyn, so a typo means deleting the pixel and re-attaching the corrected one, and it is much less annoying to get right the first time.
The exception is consent. If you rely on Switchy's accept-or-decline popup firing before the redirect, Flyn has no equivalent, and that is a real reason to keep those links where they are.
The verdict: pick by job, not by feature count
This is one of the cleanest "use the right tool for the job" comparisons in the link management category. The platforms are aimed at different jobs.
Choose Switchy if
- You need a consent gate on the redirect itself, letting visitors accept or decline before any pixel fires
- You want a link-in-bio and landing-page builder with form capture in the same product
- You are an agency operating at millions of clicks a month with dozens of seats, where Switchy sells tiers Flyn does not
- You want domain-level pixel defaults rather than attaching pixels link by link
Choose Flyn if
- You need full link management at a fraction of the cost, analytics, A/B testing, deep links, QR codes, webhooks, geo-routing
- You want retargeting pixels without a tracked-click ceiling that switches them off mid-campaign
- You want real-time click analytics with city-level geo and period-over-period comparisons
- You're a developer building integrations and need webhooks + a typed SDK
- You ship print campaigns with QR codes and need scan tracking integrated with click analytics
- You are currently paying Switchy $39/month yearly or more and the consent popup and Smartpages are not what you are actually using it for
The hybrid option
The hybrid setup used to be the standard recommendation here, and pixels were the reason for it. Now that both tools inject pixels, the case for running both narrows to the consent popup and Smartpages. If neither is load-bearing for you, one account does the job. Try the free Flyn tier and run a side-by-side on a single campaign before you decide.
