Migrate from JotURL to Flyn

Export your JotURL links, import into Flyn, and update your DNS, all in under 10 minutes

Last updated: April 2026

Pre-Migration Checklist

Complete these steps before starting the migration to ensure a smooth transition.

  • 1
Export all tracking links from JotURL as CSV and verify the file
  • 2
Document your custom domain DNS settings (screenshot recommended)
  • 3
List any retargeting pixels to re-add in Flyn Pro (or rebuild as UTM-based audiences)
  • 4
Ensure your Flyn account is on the right plan for your link volume
  • 5
Lower your DNS TTL to 60 seconds a day ahead to minimize switch-over time

Step 1: Export from JotURL

First, export your existing links from JotURL so you can import them into Flyn.

1

Log in to JotURL

Sign in at joturl.com and open the project that holds the links you want to move.

2

Open your tracking links

Go to the tracking-links list for the project.

3

Export to CSV

Use the export option to download your tracking links as a CSV. The file includes the short link, destination, and campaign fields.

4

Save the list

Confirm the CSV has the slug and destination for each link, the two fields Flyn needs to recreate them.

Step 2: Import into Flyn

Upload your exported links into Flyn. The import wizard auto-maps columns and preserves your slugs.

1

Create a Flyn account

Sign up at flyn.to/signup, no credit card required, and no trial wall. Free accounts can import up to 25 links.

2

Go to Dashboard > Import

Open the Flyn dashboard and click Import in the top navigation.

3

Upload your JotURL CSV

Drag and drop the exported CSV. Flyn maps the destination and slug columns automatically.

4

Review and confirm

Preview the links and click Import All. Flyn preserves your slugs and destinations.

Step 3: Domain & DNS Migration

Point your custom domain to Flyn so existing short links keep working seamlessly.

1

Find your current DNS record

In your registrar, locate the CNAME for your branded short domain used with JotURL.

2

Update the CNAME target

Point the CNAME to link.flyn.to, replacing the JotURL target. Keep the hostname the same.

3

Add your domain in Flyn

In Flyn go to Settings > Domains > Add Domain, enter your domain, and click Verify.

4

Wait for DNS propagation

Usually 5-30 minutes. Flyn shows a green checkmark once verified.

What Transfers

Here is what carries over from JotURL to Flyn and what needs to be reconfigured.

Destination URLsAll destinations are preserved exactly
Branded slugsYour custom slugs carry over
Custom domainsUpdate the CNAME to link.flyn.to
Retargeting pixelsRecreateConfigs do not auto-transfer, but Flyn Pro natively fires retargeting pixels on links (Meta, Google, TikTok + 9 more), so re-add them in Flyn

Post-Migration Verification

After completing the migration, work through this checklist to verify everything is working.

  • Verify 5-10 sample short links resolve correctly
  • Confirm your custom domain shows a green checkmark in Flyn
  • Check that new clicks appear in Flyn analytics
  • Set up UTM-based retargeting audiences in your ad platform
  • Regenerate any QR codes you need
  • Keep your JotURL account active for 30 days as a safety net

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to resolve them.

Links return 404 after migration

Allow up to 30 minutes for DNS. Verify the CNAME points to link.flyn.to with whatsmydns.net and clear your cache.

Retargeting pixels are gone

Pixel-in-link retargeting is a JotURL feature. In Flyn, tag links with the built-in UTM builder and build audiences in your ad platform from UTM traffic, which holds up better against ad blockers.

Analytics show zero clicks

Historical JotURL analytics do not transfer. Flyn counts from the moment your domain points to link.flyn.to.

CSV import shows mapping errors

Ensure the CSV is UTF-8 and use the manual column mapping in the Flyn import wizard to match destination and slug.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to migrate from JotURL to Flyn?

Most migrations take 5-10 minutes. The import is seconds, the rest is DNS propagation for a custom domain (5-30 minutes).

Do my JotURL retargeting pixels transfer?

The pixel configs do not carry over, but Flyn Pro natively fires the same pixel-on-link retargeting (Meta, Google, TikTok + 9 more), so re-add your pixels in Flyn. Prefer cookieless? Use the built-in UTM builder to build audiences from tagged traffic.

Do CTAs and JotBio pages move over?

No, those are JotURL features and are not part of a link import. Your branded short links, slugs, and domains migrate.

Do my JotURL analytics transfer?

No, history stays in JotURL. New clicks are tracked in Flyn with real-time, geo, and device data.

Is Flyn cheaper than JotURL?

For most teams, yes. Flyn Pro is a flat $9 per month for unlimited links and clicks, with a real free plan. JotURL has no free plan and meaningful capability starts at EUR 69 to EUR 169 per month.

Is there a limit on how many links I can import?

Free accounts can import up to 25 links. Flyn Pro supports unlimited imports.
