Migrate from Dub to Flyn
Switch from Dub to Flyn for more features, deeper analytics, and better value on every plan
Last updated: April 2026
Pre-Migration Checklist
Complete these steps before starting the migration to ensure a smooth transition.
- 1Export all links from Dub via the Links tab or API
- 2Document your custom domain DNS configuration
- 3Note any Dub API integrations that need updating
- 4Verify your Flyn plan covers your domain and link needs
- 5Schedule migration during a low-traffic window
Step 1: Export from Dub
First, export your existing links from Dub so you can import them into Flyn.
Log in to Dub
Go to app.dub.co and sign in to your workspace.
Open the Links tab
Navigate to the Links tab in your Dub workspace.
Export your links
Click the three-dot menu (more options), then select "Export links." Dub generates a CSV with all your links, slugs, tags, and destination URLs.
Download the file
Download the CSV export. You can also use Dub's API (api.dub.co) for programmatic export.
Step 2: Import into Flyn
Upload your exported links into Flyn. The import wizard auto-maps columns and preserves your slugs.
Create a Flyn account
Sign up at flyn.to/signup, free with no credit card required.
Open the Import tool
In the Flyn dashboard, click Import in the top navigation.
Upload the Dub CSV
Flyn auto-detects Dub's export format and maps url, slug, and tags columns.
Review and import
Preview your links, confirm the mapping, and click "Import All" to finalize.
Step 3: Domain & DNS Migration
Point your custom domain to Flyn so existing short links keep working seamlessly.
Find your DNS records
In your domain registrar, locate the CNAME record for your custom short domain.
Update the CNAME
Change the CNAME value from cname.dub.co to link.flyn.to.
Add the domain in Flyn
Navigate to Settings > Domains > Add Domain in Flyn and enter your branded domain.
Wait for verification
DNS propagation takes 5-30 minutes. Flyn confirms with a green checkmark once active.
DNS Record Summary
| Field | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Type | CNAME | CNAME |
| Host | go (or your subdomain) | go (no change) |
| Target | cname.dub.co | link.flyn.to |
What Transfers
Here is what carries over from Dub to Flyn and what needs to be reconfigured.
| Item | Transfers | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Destination URLs | All URLs preserved exactly | |
| Slugs (keys) | Dub keys map directly to Flyn slugs | |
| Tags | Tag labels import cleanly | |
| Custom domains | Update CNAME from cname.dub.co to link.flyn.to | |
| Click analytics | Historical analytics remain in Dub | |
| QR codes | Regenerate | Regenerate for free in Flyn |
| dub.sh links | dub.sh is Dub-owned, only custom domains transfer |
Post-Migration Verification
After completing the migration, work through this checklist to verify everything is working.
- Test sample links to verify correct redirects
- Confirm custom domain is verified in Flyn
- Verify click tracking is active in Flyn analytics
- Update API integrations from Dub to Flyn
- Regenerate QR codes if applicable
- Keep Dub account active for 30 days as fallback
Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them.
Dub CSV has different column names than expected
Use the manual column mapping in Flyn's import wizard. Map Dub's "url" to destination, "key" to slug, and "tagNames" to tags.
Custom domain showing unverified in Flyn
Double-check that the CNAME target is exactly link.flyn.to (not cname.dub.co). DNS propagation can take up to 30 minutes.
Some slugs already exist in Flyn
If you previously created links in Flyn, there may be slug conflicts. The import wizard flags these, choose to skip, overwrite, or rename.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why switch from Dub to Flyn?
Flyn offers deeper analytics (city-level geo, period-over-period trends), A/B testing, deep links for 16+ native apps, geo-routing, password protection, and link cloaking, features not available on Dub's standard plans.
Does Dub support bulk export?
Yes. Dub offers CSV export from the Links tab via the three-dot menu, and also via their REST API at api.dub.co.
Will my dub.sh links break?
No. Links on dub.sh continue working through Dub. Only your custom domain links are affected by the CNAME change.
How does pricing compare?
Dub Pro costs $24/month for 1,000 tracked links per month. Flyn Pro costs $9/month (annual) with unlimited links, 3 custom domains, and full analytics.
Can I use Flyn's API as a Dub API replacement?
Yes. Flyn's REST API covers link creation, updating, deletion, analytics retrieval, and bulk operations. See flyn.to/docs for full API reference.
