Pre-Migration Checklist
Complete these steps before starting the migration to ensure a smooth transition.

Step 1: Export from Geniuslink
First, export your existing links from Geniuslink so you can import them into Flyn.
Log in to your Geniuslink account
Log in to your Geniuslink dashboard at geniuslink.com.
Open the Links / Reports section
Go to the Links view (or Reports) in the dashboard to see all your managed links, their slugs, and their destinations.
Export your link data
Use the export/download option in the Links or Reports view to pull your links to a file. If a direct export is not available on your plan, use the Geniuslink API to pull every link's slug and destination URL programmatically, or contact Geniuslink support to request a full export.
Save the file
Save the exported file, you need each link's short slug, its destination URL, and any tags/UTMs. Note: affiliate-localized links carry storefront routing rules that are specific to Geniuslink and will not carry their affiliate behavior into Flyn.
Step 2: Import into Flyn
Upload your exported links into Flyn. The import wizard auto-maps columns and preserves your slugs.
Create a Flyn account
Sign up at flyn.to/signup, no credit card required. Free accounts can import up to 25 links.
Go to Dashboard > Import
Open the Flyn dashboard and click the "Import" button in the top navigation.
Upload your Geniuslink CSV
Drag and drop the exported CSV or click to browse. Flyn auto-maps the slug, destination, and tag columns, use the manual mapper if your export uses different headers.
Review and confirm
Preview the imported links. Flyn preserves your original slugs, destination URLs, and tags. Click "Import All" to finalize.
Step 3: Domain & DNS Migration
Point your custom domain to Flyn so existing short links keep working seamlessly.
Find your current DNS record
In your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.), locate the CNAME record for your branded short domain (e.g., go.yourcompany.com) currently pointed at Geniuslink.
Update the CNAME target
Change the CNAME value to link.flyn.to, do not change the hostname. This also lets you drop Geniuslink's $50/month custom-domain add-on.
Add your domain in Flyn
In the Flyn dashboard, go to Settings > Domains > Add Domain. Enter your branded short domain and click Verify.
Wait for DNS propagation
DNS changes typically propagate within 5-30 minutes. Flyn will show a green checkmark once the domain is verified.

After completing the migration, work through this checklist to verify everything is working.
- Verify 5-10 sample short links resolve to correct destinations
- Confirm custom domain shows a green checkmark in Flyn dashboard
- Check that new clicks are appearing in Flyn analytics
- Confirm you have cancelled the $50/mo Geniuslink custom-domain add-on once DNS has moved
- Update any integrations or API calls to use Flyn endpoints
- Keep your Geniuslink account active for 30 days as a safety net
Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them.
Links returning 404 after migration
DNS propagation can take up to 30 minutes. Clear your browser cache and try again. Use a DNS checker tool (like whatsmydns.net) to verify the CNAME is pointing to link.flyn.to.
Affiliate links no longer route to local Amazon stores
Geniuslink's storefront localization and affiliate tag handling are commerce features that do not transfer to Flyn. Flyn provides general geo-routing to any URL you choose, but not Amazon/Apple affiliate localization. Keep affiliate-critical links in Geniuslink.
Analytics showing zero clicks after import
Historical analytics from Geniuslink do not transfer. Flyn analytics start counting from the moment your domain points to link.flyn.to. Allow 5 minutes for the first clicks to appear in the dashboard.
CSV import showing mapping errors
Ensure your CSV uses UTF-8 encoding. If your Geniuslink export uses non-standard headers, use the manual column mapping in the Flyn import wizard to match the slug, destination, and tag fields.

How long does it take to migrate from Geniuslink to Flyn?

Will my existing short links break during migration?

Do my affiliate-localized links still work after switching to Flyn?
No. Geniuslink's Amazon/Apple storefront localization and affiliate tag handling are commerce features Flyn does not replicate. Flyn offers general geo-routing to any destination, but if a link's job is to localize an affiliate storefront, keep it in Geniuslink.
Do my Geniuslink analytics transfer to Flyn?
Historical click data stays in Geniuslink. Once your domain points to Flyn, all new clicks are tracked in Flyn's analytics with richer data including real-time streams, city-level geo, and A/B test metrics.
Can I keep using Geniuslink and Flyn simultaneously?
Yes. A common setup is to keep affiliate-localization links in Geniuslink while moving general branded links to Flyn. Note that a single custom domain can only point to one service at a time via CNAME.
Will I still pay $50/month for a custom domain after switching?
