How Flyn classifies link health

A healthy row resolves to a reachable HTTPS destination. Review rows resolved but need attention: the final URL is plain HTTP, or the final response is a 4xx or 5xx status such as 404. Broken rows could not be traced to the end, for example a timeout, an unreachable host, a redirect loop, more than 8 redirects, or a redirect to a private address.

Can I check the HTTP status code of many URLs at once?
Yes. Paste up to 25 public URLs, one per line, and Flyn requests each one from its servers and reports the final HTTP status code, final URL, HTTPS state, redirect count, and response time. Runs are rate limited (currently 4 per minute from one IP address), so split longer lists into batches of 25. Some sites answer automated requests differently than browsers, for example with a 403 from bot protection, so confirm unexpected codes in a browser.
Does it show every redirect hop and whether it is a 301 or 302?
Yes. Redirects are followed one hop at a time rather than automatically, so every row that redirects lists the status code of each hop, for example 301 > 302 > 200, and you can expand the chain to see each hop's host and URL. 301 and 308 are permanent redirects, while 302, 303, and 307 are temporary. Up to 8 HTTP redirects are followed per URL (meta refresh and JavaScript redirects are not), and a loop or a longer chain is marked Broken with the hops traced so far.
How do I bulk check 301 redirects after a site migration?
Paste the old URLs, up to 25 per run, and check that each row shows one permanent hop (301 or 308) straight to the new URL, followed by a 200. Rows with a temporary 302, several hops, a 404 at the end, or a loop need fixing. Copy CSV includes the hop chain for every row, so you can track fixes in a spreadsheet and rerun the same list after each change.
What does Healthy mean?
Healthy means the URL resolved successfully, the final destination is HTTPS, and no obvious broken state was detected. You should still review business context before sending large traffic volumes.
What does Review mean?
Review means the link resolved, but one or more signals deserve attention. For example, a final HTTP URL may technically load but is not ideal for user trust or modern campaigns, and a final 4xx or 5xx status such as 404 or 500 means the destination answered with an error.
What does Broken mean?
Broken means Flyn could not trace the URL to a final response. Common causes include timeouts, private URLs, DNS failure, invalid URLs, unreachable hosts, redirect loops, and chains longer than 8 redirects.
Can I use this for old Flyn or third-party short links?
Yes. The checker follows standard HTTP redirects from public shorteners and branded short domains, including old campaign links that may have been created years ago.
Will this count as clicks in analytics?
Many shorteners count server-side requests as clicks. If you check production links, expect some analytics systems to record those audit requests.
Does the bulk checker crawl pages?
No. It checks the provided URLs and their redirect paths only. It does not crawl internal links or scan every page on a domain.
Can I export results?
Yes. Copy CSV copies every row with its URL, final URL, status code, redirect count, response time, HTTPS state, health, issue, and hop-by-hop status chain. You can paste the output into a spreadsheet, issue tracker, or campaign QA checklist.
Why are private URLs blocked?
Public web tools must not scan localhost, internal IPs, metadata services, or private network hosts. Blocking these targets prevents server-side request forgery risks.
